Bong Go apologizes to Kris Aquino for Philip Salvador joke

Senatorial candidate Bong Go has apologized to showbiz personality Kris Aquino for using her failed romantic relationship with actor Philip Salvador in his campaign spiels during his campaign sorties.

"Ma’am Kris Aquino, paumanhin po. Kung may nasaktan, nagpapatawa lang kami. Hindi na namin gagamitin ang joke na 'yun," Go said during  a campaign sortie in Manila on Wednesday.

Go said the campaign spiel wherein he teased Salvador for having been able to fool several women including Kris was meant to lighten the mood and not insult anybody.

Kris, the youngest sister of former President Benigno Aquino III, and Salvador became a couple in the mid-1990s. They have a son, Josh, who's now 23 years old.

"Kami ni Ipe, alam ko sawang sawa kayo sa pulitika. Gusto lang namin kayo pasayahin," Go said.

Earlier in the day, Davao city Mayor Sara Duterte who also serves as campaign manager of the administration's Senate slate Hugpong ng Pagbabago assured Aquino that Go will stop making such jokes.

"I'm sure, ngayon nagsabi na ‘yung object ng kanilang skit that she is offended…I’m sure they will listen because they are the kind of people who are aware kung ano ang kailangan nilang gawin,” Sara told reporters after Hugpong’s campaign stop in San Juan.

“I’m sure they will stop [doing that skit],” she added.

During the 2010 Presidential race, Sara's father and then Davao city Mayor Rodrigo Duterte backed the presidential and vice presidential bid of Liberal Party bets Noynoy and then Senator Manuel "Mar" Roxas II.—NB, GMA News
