SWS warns vs. fake surveys, tells public to rely only on official website

The Social Weather Stations on Friday urged the public not to believe supposed SWS surveys that could not be found on its website, warning against fake polls and interviewers that are expected to emerge ahead of the May elections.

"Everyone is enjoined to rely only on the SWS website (www.sws.org.ph) for its advisories, announcements, and reports released to the public," the reminder read.

"SWS again reminds the public that false reportage about SWS surveys is very common in the period leading up to an election," it added.

The agency said the public could verify the authenticity of an interviewer through his ID, which should bear the SWS logo and the name Social Weather Stations; his name and signature; validity period of the ID; and name and signature of an SWS officer.

The SWS, as well, gave its contacts for public to contact them:

  • Telephone numbers: 02-9264308; 02-9244456; 02-9244465 (please look for Ms Josefina Tayactac)
  • Mobile: 0999-9913518 (Smart)
  • Fax number: 02-9202181
  • Email: sws_info@sws.org.ph

"The public is hereby informed that, while SWS has a pool of interviewers nationwide, there is no other SWS office aside from its office at 52 Malingap St., Sikatuna Village, Quezon City, 1101, Philippines," the advisory read.

The social research institution, as well, acknowledged various groups conducting surveys for the national and local positions with the coming May 2019 elections.

However, it noted that "some of these groups are legitimate, while others are not." — MDM, GMA News
