New SC justice Lazaro-Javier vows integrity, competence

Newly-appointed Supreme Court Associate Justice Amy Lazaro-Javier on Monday vowed to serve her term well as member of the high court.

In a report by GMA News' Dano Tingcungco on Balitanghali, Javier attended her first flag ceremony as an SC magistrate, thanked her supporters since her early days in the Appellate Court and promised to serve with integrity and competence.

Likewise, Javier said asked her colleagues to pray for her.

Prior to her appointment this month by President Rodrigo Duterte, Javier has been shortlisted for the post by eight times by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC), the panel which evaluates applicants for an associate justice and chief justice of the Supreme Court.

Retired Supreme Court justice Noel Tijam, on the other hand, has been named representative of the academe in and regular member of the JBC. — Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA News
