PNP calls for stricter security in subdivisions after seizure of P1.1-B shabu in Ayala Alabang
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday called for stricter security measures and policy in exclusive subdivisions following the recovery of P1.1 billion worth of shabu from a house at Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City.
“Sana naman ang homeowners association, magkaroon sila ng polisiya ng paghihigpit,” PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Bernard Banac said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.
Aside from formulating stricter policy, he also suggested to homeowners associations in subdivisions to check regularly the residents to monitor suspicious activities.
Banac also said that there was a security lapse in the exclusive subdivision in Muntinlupa where four Chinese drug suspects were nabbed recently.
Police said the suspects were using tea bags and cans of biscuits to transport the illegal drugs and were doing it inside their house in Ayala Alabang.
“Dito sa nangyari sa pag-recover sa P1.1 billion worth of shabu sa Muntinlupa, well, nagkaroon ng security lapse 'yung ating private security agencies na naka-deploy diyan,” Banac said.
Banac reminded private security agencies in subdivisions to coordinate with the local police if they notice something unusual in their area.
“Umaasa po talaga kami na gagampanan ng private security guards natin ang kanilang tungkulin pagdating sa monitoring. At kung sakali man merong kahinahinala at krimen na mangyari mapaabot agad sa ating lokal na pulis,” he said.
According to Banac, the PNP is only tasked to regulate private security agencies to follow their standard training and recruitment, but they do not have complete control over its and policies.
“Ang kontrata ng homeowners association at ng private security agencies ay doon lamang sa kanilang dalawa, between the two of them…Ang magagawa lang po talaga ng PNP ay i-regulate 'yung private security agencies,” Banac said. —KBK, GMA News
