4TH TRANCHE

Duterte’s pay hiked to almost P400k as gov’t execs, workers get pay increase

The highest government officials in the country will see their monthly salaries jump by P88,000 to over P100,000 following the release of a budget circular on the implementation of the fourth tranche of pay increase for civilian state workers.

On March 25, Department of Budget and Management officer-in-charge Janet Abuel issued National Budget Circular No. 575 prescribing the guidelines on the release of funds for the "fourth tranche compensation adjustment for civilian personnel in the National Government."

This is pursuant to the Executive Order No. 76 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte to use the reenacted 2018 national budget to ensure funding for the salary increase amid the delay in the passage of the 2019 General Appropriations Act.

The funding for the fourth tranche of the salary hike will be "charged against any available appropriations under the 2018 General Appropriations Act, as reenacted," according to the circular.

Duterte, who falls under Salary Grade 33, will receive a maximum monthly pay hike of P101,656 or 34 percent this year to P399,739 from P298,083 in 2018.

Meanwhile, Vice President Leni Robredo, Senate President Vicente Sotto III, House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin - who are under Salary Grade 32 - will see their monthly salaries increase by more than P88,000 or 33 percent to a maximum of P353,470 from P264,721 last year.

For those under the Salary Grade 1, government personnel will have their pays climb to P11,732 this year from P11,173 in 2018.

Likewise, entry-level teachers and nurses under Salary Grade 11 will see their pays increase to a range of P20,754 to P22,829 in 2019.—LDF/NB, GMA News
