Dulce Saguisag's remains arrive at Manila Memorial Park

(Updated 12:32 p.m.) The remains of former Social Welfare secretary Dulce Saguisag were brought to the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City shortly after noon Friday. Q-11 television reported that Mrs Saguisag's remains were "escorted" to the memorial park in a convoy of up to 40 vehicles from the St. Scholastica's College chapel in Manila. Mrs Saguisag, who was killed in a road accident in Makati City last week, was to be laid to rest at the park's "Garden of Reverence." Burial arrangements included white balloons to be released into the air after the burial, and the playing of the boogie song "In the Mood" to remember Mrs Saguisag's happy spirit. While husband and former senator Rene Saguisag was not around as he was still confined at the Makati Medical Center, friends and relatives of Mrs Saguisag waited for the convoy to arrive. Among her former work colleagues who waited for her at the memorial park were former President Joseph Estrada, former Labor secretary Bienvenido Laguesma and former presidential legislative liaison officer Jose Jaime Policarpio Jr. Earlier, Mrs Saguisag got emotional eulogies in Manila from friends and family during the necrological rites at the St. Scholastica's College chapel. Q-11 television reported that several guests shed tears at the St. Scholastica's College chapel where a concelebrated Mass was held for Mrs Saguisag. "I miss the fits of laughter we would have just by being together," said her sister Alma, who recalled their shopping, ballroom dancing and karaoke singing of "Sana Wala Nang Wakas." Eldest son Rebo, in between sobs, said that while they were happy Mrs Saguisag is in a better place, he was sad because she would not be around to be at his wedding, at least physically. "My only regret is that she would not be part at least physically of my planned wedding with my fiance Jackie ... We will miss you and we will love you very much," he said. Also at the mass were former Presidents Corazon Aquino and Estrada, and Vice President Manuel "Noli" de Castro Jr. The immediate members of Mrs Saguisag's family had gone ahead to the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City to prepare for the burial. - GMANews.TV
