Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David was briefly banned from Facebook following following his viral post that was critical of President Rodrigo Duterte, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said on Wednesday.

A report on the CBCP News website said David was not able to access his Facebook account for two hours on Thursday as the social networking site "accused him of 'phishing'."

“I was blocked. I got some advice on how to revive it,” the bishop was quoted as saying.

Duterte lashed out at David on Tuesday who allegedly uses the pulpit to attack the administration.

In a speech, the president said: "Alam mo kung pari ka, gusto mo akong atakehin. Hoy, David makinig kang p**** i** ka, lumabas ka sa pulpito mo. Huwag mong gamitin ang relihiyon."

David, who has been a vocal critic of Duterte's anti-illegal drug campaign, responded to the tirade in a post on Wednesday.

The bishop said his mother, Bienvenida Siongco David, who sent him and his 12 siblings to college though the Japanese occupation, does not deserve to be called a whore.

The post has been shared more than 8,000 times as of this posting. —Margaret Claire Layug/ LDF, GMA News
