Gabriela solons hit Duterte over ‘penis’ talk

The Gabriela Women's Party slammed President Rodrigo Duterte for talking about his genital part during a campaign speech in Puerto Princesa City.

In a statement, party-list Representatives Emmi De Jesus and Arlene Brosas took a swipe at the President for choosing to talk about his private parts instead of platforms and issues during his campaign speech.

"People should take offense that instead of platforms and issues are being discussed at political gatherings, we are stuck with a President wanting to just talk about his genitals," the lawmakers said.

"His privates do not offer any answer or solution to the political, economic, and humanitarian crises that hound our people," they added.

In his speech on April 4, Duterte talked about how "highly-equipped" he was even as he also threw tirades against opposition senatorial candidate Chel Diokno.

The women lawmakers said that Duterte's speech only shows that his administration cannot offer solutions to the country's problem and is "just out to continuously fool the people with such buffoonery."

"This is also consistent with his open promotion of rape and sexual violence against women. Such disrespect to women and the voting public should not be tolerated," they said.

"The President's genitals are irrelevant in this coming polls and should not be talked about at any forum. Women would rather be concerned with the implementation of longer maternity leave, higher budget to health care and education, and junking of TRAIN Law," they added. — Erwin Colcol/RSJ, GMA News
