Duterte tells Sara not to seek the presidency: Sakripisyo, kaliit ng suweldo

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he told his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte not to  entertain the idea of succeeeding him in Malacanang.

Speaking at the PDP-Laban campaign rally in Batangas City, Duterte recalled telling Sara about the "low pay," sacrifices and insults a president has to deal with.

"My daughter is not running for president.  I told her, 'Wala kang… O sakripisyo ka lang diyan. Kakaliit ng sweldo ng p___ ina tapos ganon ang sakripisyo mo. Wala kang tulog gabi-gabi," he said.

"Kaya sabi ko kay Inday, 'Huwag kang tumakbo.  Anong makuha mo? You serve the nation tapos ‘yang kung mag-insulto itong mga p___ ina, mga pera-pera lang."

Duterte said his hands hurt from the thousands of papers he has to sign.

"Alam mo ang pirmahan ko pa, there are 10,000 signatures. Sa appointment lang 6,000. Kaya ang kamay ko man --- nanigas na ganon. Hindi na makahawak ng kutsara.  Oo, totoo," he said.

"Pagdating niya ngayong gabi isang bundle ‘yan kaya minsan sinisipa ko ‘yan. O tapos umuuwi ako ng probinsya hindi ko pinapansin. So sila, 'Saan na ‘yung batas?' Ah p___ ina. Tumahimik kayo diyan."

Sara earlier said her father does not want her to run for president to spare her the rigors of the job. She also said a presidential bid is not on her plans.

Duterte heads the PDP-Laban party.  Last year, Sara formed her own regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), which has grown into a coalition of political allies.

As HNP's campaign manager, Sara has been actively campaigning all over the country for the senatorial candidates endorsed by her party. —LDF, GMA News
