De Lima’s son passes 2018 Bar exams

Detained Senator Leila de Lima is one proud mother as her son, Vincent Joshua Bohol, passed the 2018 Bar examinations.

“A most glorious day for me and our family,”  De Lima said in a note from her detention cell at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center.

My son, Vincent Joshua, made it in the Bar Exams. Glory to you, O Lord! Thank you…Thank you…Thank you!,” she added.

Only 1,800 of the 8,158 takers ,or 22.07 %, passed last year's Bar.

In another note, the senator congratulated Vincent, saying it was her happiest day in more than two years.

De Lima’s youngest son graduated from San Beda College School of Law in Alabang in June 2018.

The senator was unable to attend the event after a Muntinlupa court denied her request saying De Lima's presence at the school "will endanger its security" and that "her risk of flight was very high.”

De Lima has been in jail since 2017 over her alleged involvement in the proliferation of illegal drugs at the New Bilibid Prison during her term as justice secretary, an accusation she has repeatedly denied. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
