DOJ to check ‘factual basis’ of Panelo’s new ouster matrix

The Department of Justice will check if there's ‘enough factual basis’ in presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo's story that opposition personalities and media groups were out to discredit the Duterte administration, Secretary Menardo Guevarra has said.

Guevarra made the remark after Panelo on Wednesday presented a matrix of individuals supposedly involved in a destabilization plot and campaign to increase the chances of Otso Diretso candidates winning in the elections on Monday.

“I have not seen this new ouster matrix," Guevarra told reporters.

"In any event, the DOJ will study this further to determine if there is enough factual basis to refer this new matrix to the NBI for investigation," he added.

Panelo in his briefing said it was up to the DOJ to pursue the necessary charges against those he mentioned in the briefing as plotters against President Rodrigo Duterte's administration. —NB, GMA News
