DOLE: Employees working on Election Day entitled to 30% additional pay
Employees on duty on Monday, May 13, are entitled to an additional 30% in their daily wages, as ruled by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
In line with this, the DOLE released Advisory 07, which details the following pay rules for May 13, 2019:
- The "no work, no pay" policy will apply unless there is another company policy, practice, or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) granting payment on special days
- For work done during the day, the employee will be paid an additional 30% of the daily rate on the first eight hours of work [(basic wage x 130%) + COLA]
- For overtime work, the employee will be paid an additional 30% of the hourly rate [hourlay rate of the basic wage x 130% x 130% x number of hours worked]
- For employees working on their rest day, they will be paid an additional 50% of the daily rate on the first eight hours of work [(basic wage x 150%) + COLA]
- For overtime work on their rest day, employees will be paid an additional 30% of the hourly rate. [Hourly rate of the basic wage x 150% x 130% x number of hours worked].
