PPCRV’s manual encoding of printed ERs starts
Poll watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) on Tuesday announced the official start of the manual encoding of the printed election returns.
"This officially opens our work here, the second phase of our work here at the Pope Pius command center. This is a House of Faith, what we are doing is also an act of faith...." PPCRV chairperson Myla Villanueva said.
According to Agnes Gervacio, media director of the PPCRV, volunteer students of the Asia Pacific College are doing a validation process in which they will check and compare if the data matches with the electronically-transmitted results being shown in the PPCRV screens.
"These volunteers are encoding the fourth copy of the election returns, these will be used to match it versus the electronic returns that we're seeing on the screens,' Gervacio told reporters.
"'Yung actual election returns, pinipick-up po 'yun ng mga coordinators natin, bina-batch po at dinadala po sa Pope Pius..." she added.
Gervacio said the "physical collection" of election returns is ongoing, adding that the PPCRV already received election returns from cities in the National Capital Region such as Pasay, San Juan, Makati and Manila.
"Outside Metro Manila, we're expecting them to come late in the afternoon... some northern Luzon provinces," Gervacio said.
Earlier, the election watchdog said it had deployed 300,000 volunteers for the recent elections.
