'SO FAR, SO GOOD'

No cause to worry about conduct of May 13 polls, PPCRV says

The public should not worry about the result of the recently concluded midterm elections, poll watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) said Monday.

"Wala po kaming nakikitang dahilan para magkaroon ng agam-agam," said Agnes Gervacio, PPCRV media director, in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV. "So far, so good po."

Gervacio added that accuracy level is at 99.98%.

She added that based on the observations of their thousands of volunteers, the conduct of the May 13 elections "was really good."

Still, she said the automated elections in the Philippines could still be improved.

"Hindi perpekto pero sa tingin ko ay mapapaayos natin ang AES (automated election system)," Gervacio said.

The PPCRV conducts an unofficial parallel count of votes cast on the midterm elections.

Volunteers encode physical election returns delivered to PPCRV headquarters in Manila from across the country; the encoded data is checked against results transmitted electronically from vote-counting machines to the transparency server.

"Ang trabaho po talaga kasi ng PPCRV ay mag-check and balance sa pamamagitan ng pagkumpara ng physical election returns na pre-transmission sa electronic reference ng Comelec (Commission on Elections)," Gervacio said.  —KBK, GMA News
