PPCRV receives 60% of election returns
Poll watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) has received 60.09 percent of all expected election returns as of past midnight of Tuesday.
Figures from as of 12:51 a.m., the latest provided by the council, show they have received 51,538 out of 85,679 physical election returns from across the country. These numbers remained the same as of 3:45 p.m.
A bulk of the election returns — 24,331 — came from provinces in Luzon, while 15,334 came from the Visayas and 4,700 from Mindanao. A total of 7,173 returns from the National Capital Region have so far been delivered to the PPCRV's command center in Manila.
The PPCRV needs the physical election returns, which were printed before the vote-counting machines transmitted data to the Commission on Election's servers, so their volunteers can encode them into computers.
After this, the encoded data is validated against the electronically transmitted results to see if the two sets of figures match, an indicator of whether or not votes were added or subtracted during transmission.
The last match rate the PPCRV reported was 99.98 percent, a figure PPCRV Executive Director Maribel Buenaobra confirmed Tuesday afternoon.
She also called on the public to volunteer for the PPCRV's validation work. —KBK/BM, GMA News
