GMA News Online named News Online of the Year at 2019 RCM Journalism Awards

GMA News Online was named News Online of the Year at the 2019 RCM Journalism Awards on Thursday.

Editor-in-chief Jaemark Tordecilla received the trophy, and thanked the Rotary Club of Manila for the recognition, saying that in this digital age, it is vital that there be a reliable source of news.

“Kasi ngayon in the age of fake news kailangan talaga ng balitang mapagkakatiwalaan online,” he said.

“So nagpapasalamat tayo sa Rotary Club of Manila sa tiwalang binigay nila sa GMA News Online,” he added.

The Rotary Club of Manila honored journalists who have distinguished themselves and have outstanding contributions in the tri-media during the awards ceremony held at the New World Hotel in Makati City.

GMA Network received a total of five awards in the television, radio, and online categories:

• Television Female Broadcaster of the Year – Ms. Susan Enriquez
• Television Female Reporter of the Year – Ms. Tina Panganiban –Perez
• Radio Female Broadcaster of the Year – Ms. Ali Sotto
• Radio Male Broadcaster of the Year – Mr. Joel Reyes Zobel
• News Online of the Year - GMA News Online

Earlier this year, GMA News Online also won the Media Excellence Award for Online Journalism at the National College of Science and Technology (NCST) Dangal ng Bayan Awards.

In 2018, GMA News Online was hailed as the Best Online News Portal at 3rd PUP Mabini Media Awards. — LA, GMA News
