PACC exec Greco Belgica’s brother named anti-red tape agency chief


President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed the brother of Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Commissioner Greco Belgica as the first head of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA).

Duterte named lawyer Jeremiah Belgica ARTA director general on July 3, according to Malacañang.

The ARTA is mandated to implement and oversee a national policy on anti-red tape and ease of doing business under Republic Act 11032, which aims to streamline the current systems and procedures of government services.

Created last year, the agency had been under officer-in-charge Ernesto Perez prior to Jeremiah’s appointment.

Jeremiah is the third Belgica family member in the Duterte administration. His brother Greco was appointed to the PACC in January 2018.

Their father Grepor was named presidential adviser for religious affairs last May.

Apart from Jeremiah, Duterte’s new appointees also included the following:

  • Arecio Casing Jr. (NEDA director)
  • Angelica Cayas (Board of Investments governor)
  • Ricardo Oñate Jr. (Department of Agriculture director)
  • Mita Chuchi Lim (Department of Social Welfare and Development director)
