PCG acquires new assets for maritime security, disaster response ops
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Thursday acquired new disaster response assets which aims to enhance the agency's maritime security, patrol and security operations.
The newly-acquired assets include 90 units of 4x4 pick-up trailer hitch ball and mount, 73 rubber boats with outboard motor, 12 units of Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIB) with outboard motor, seven units of PCG bus as well as five fully-equipped ambulances.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade graced the turn-over and blessing ceremony of the newly-procured assets.
Lorenzana said he believes the latest development in the PCG will be a “powerful booster” for its whole force.
“Mas magagampanan ang trabaho kung mayroon kayong kagamitan,” Lorenzana said.
For his part, PGC commandant Admiral Elson Hermogino said the disaster response assets would allow PCG personnel to extend “better and dependable” service to the public especially during times of calamities.
The PCG said the new assets will be distributed to various PCG districts across the country to fulfill the agency's mandate in search, rescue and response operations. — RSJ, GMA News
