Army men, Marine get outstanding Filipino soldier awards
Two members of the Army and one from the Marines have been chosen as outstanding soldiers for 2019, the Armed Forces of the Philippines announced on Monday.
Receiving Metrobank Foundation's Outstanding Filipino Award for Soldiers (MFOFAS) are Lieutenant Colonel John Paul Baldomar of the Philippine Army, Major Romulo Dimayuga of the Marines and Master Sergeant Ramil Caporas of the Army.
"You have proven your diligence and perseverance for the advancement of our country and our fellow men through the simple yet extraordinary achievements in the performance of your duties," AFP chief General Benjamin Madrigal said.
The three soldiers were presented in a ceremony held at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City earlier today.
Each of the awardees of the Metrobank is set to receive P1 Million cash prize, a gold medallion and a trophy during the awarding ceremony which will be held this month.
Baldomar, who has been in service for 22 years, responded to the plight of the Tiruray families in Datu Unsay, Maguindanao while Dimayuga had a major role in crippling the forces of the most notorious terrorist group in the country.
On the other hand, Caporas led a team of Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts during the Marawi crisis which resulted in the recovery and proper disposal of around 1,000 improvised explosive device.
