Duterte visits wake of pilots in Calamba plane crash
President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday expressed his condolences to the families of the pilots who died in the plane crash at a resort in Calamba City, Laguna on September 1.
Duterte went to Villamor Air Base Mortuary in Pasay City to pay his last respects to Captain Jesus Hernandez, the pilot in command of the medical evacuation aircraft.
He then visited the wake of First Officer Lino Cruz III, the co-pilot of the aircraft, at the Loyola Memorial Park in Parañaque City.
Malacañang released photos of the wake visit on Friday.
Nine people died after the Beechcraft King Air 350 light aircraft that was transporting a patient from Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte to Metro Manila crashed on Sunday afternoon in Barangay Pansol, Calamba City. Two caretakers at a private resort were injured.
Residents said while still in the air, the plane disintegrated and its wing fell off.
Lion Air, which owns the ill-fated plane, said it will pay for the funeral expenses of the victims. —NB, GMA News
