Chiong sisters mom: No forgiveness for Larrañaga, accomplices
More than two decades after Marijoy and Jacqueline were killed, the mother of the Chiong sisters has not forgiven Paco Larrañaga and his accomplices in the murder of her two daughters.
In a Super Radyo dzBB interview on Sunday, Thelma Chiong reflected on the 2011 documentary "Give Up Tomorrow," produced by Larrañaga's brother-in-law, which claims that Paco had no hand in the murder of the Chiong Sisters in 1997 despite his conviction.
Three of Larrañaga's accomplices —Ariel Balansag, Alberto Caño, and Josman Aznar —had been released from prison based on the good conduct and time allowance (GCTA) law, though only Aznar has yet to surrender following President Rodrigo Duterte's order.
"Naaalala ko yan (documentary) kasi palagi nilang pinapalabas yan," Thelma said.
Thelma said she could not forgive the killers of her daughters as they have not asked for it all this time.
20 years is not enough for me to forget kung anong nangyari," she added.
Thelma, however, is happy that Balansag and Caño have already surrendered.
"Nagpapasalamat ako, I'm happy talaga na bumalik na sila at hindi na kailangan na arestuhin, kundi kusa nang nag-surrender," she said.
She, however, is urging Aznar to turn himself in before the 15-day period that Duterte gave for GCTA-freed heinous crime convicts lapses.
It is still 15 days for you to return. September 19 pa ang 15 days," she said.
—Erwin Colcol/LBG, GMA News
