Ex-Pangasinan Gov. Espino already out of danger — police
Former Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino Jr. is already in stable condition, the chief of Pangasinan police said on Thursday.
"Si former Congressman is already in stable condition, out of danger siya. 'Yung iba naman eh, 'yung isa eh ginagamot pa, 'yung iba out of danger na," Police Colonel Redrico Maranan said during a press conference.
Espino was hurt after being fired at by more or less 10 gunmen in Barangay Magtaking on Wednesday afternoon.
One of his security men, Police Staff Sergeant Richard Esguerra, died on the spot during the ambush.
Authorities said there is no motive yet on the incident as they are still gathering pieces of evidence such as some CCTV footage in the area to help them in the investigation.
Maranan said police are eyeing more or less 10 suspects in the incident. According to Maranan, the suspects could be members of a professional gun for hire group.
Maranan also said that Espino had received threats prior to the ambush. — RSJ, GMA News
