Magnitude-5.3 quake hits off Quezon —PHIVOLCS
A magnitude-5.3 earthquake struck off Quezon province on Friday afternoon, according to PHIVOLCS.
In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, PHIVOLC's Ismael Ngarag said the quake was tectonic in nature and happened at 4:28 p.m., with its epicenter being traced 10 kilometers off Burdeos, Quezon.

Based on the latest earthquake information posted on the PHIVOLCS website, a reported Intensity IV was felt in Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte; and in Quezon City.
Intensity III, however, was recorded in Guinayangan, Quezon.
PHIVOLCS said an Instrumental Intensity III was felt in Quezon City and Tagaytay City.
PHIVOLCS originally placed the magnitude at 5.5 before eventually updating and downgrading it to magnitude 5.3.
"Iyong unang information kasi may mga seismic stations na pumapasok sa amin. Sa pagdadagdag ng stations nare-refine natin ang location ng earthquake tapos mas nako-compute natin ang totoong lakas ng earthquake, so [magnitude] 5.3," said Jeffrey Perez supervising science research specialist in a separate Super Radyo dzBB interview.
Several aftershocks of varying magnitudes were later recorded: magnitude 2.4 at 5:02 p.m., magnitude 5.1 at 5:18 p.m., and magnitude 2.9 at 5:20 p.m. — all happening in Burdeos, Quezon.
PHIVOLCS said damage to property is expected.
Operations of Metro Rail Transit Line 3, Light Rail Transit Line 1, Light Rail Transit Line 2, and Philippine National Railways were temporarily halted following the temblor.
Classes in several schools were also suspended.
