URGED TO SURRENDER

Manila’s ‘drug queen’ Guia Castro entered US via Los Angeles —Eleazar

Manila's alleged drug queen Guia Gomez Castro entered the US via Los Angeles, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar said on Tuesday.

“She left the country on September 21. That was two or three days I think after the hearing in the Senate that the ‘drug queen’ was mentioned. During that time, her name was not mentioned yet,” Eleazar said in an interview on ANC.

“Los Angeles ang kanilang point of entry and the Quad Interforce, through the concerned agencies are now coordinating with our foreign counterparts in order to address the situation,” he added.

The brother of Castro who is allegedly a rogue cop involved in drug recycling also fled to the US, according to Eleazar.

Metro Manila’s top cop urged Castro to surrender to authorities.

“Alam niya ba may warrant of arrest siya? Now that she’s in the United States, we have an extradition treaty, so for sure lumiit na ‘yung mundo niya at makakabuti na siguro bumalik na lang siya, sumuko,” he said.

Castro, an elected barangay chairperson in Manila, has previously denied the allegation.

"Hindi ko alam kung saan saan nila pinagkukuha 'yang mga sinasabi nilang link sa akin. God knows ni hindi ko kilala 'yang mga 'yan," Castro said in a statement coursed through someone close to her.

“Kung ang pananahimik kapalit ng kaligtasan ko sampu ng pamilya ko, mas nanaisin kong manahimik. Hindi ko na priority ang iisipin ng iba. Kung guilty ako sa paningin nila, so be it," she added. —Dona Magsino/KG, GMA News
