DA reminds public: No cure or vaccine for African swine fever

The Department of Agriculture on Thursday reminded the public that there is currently no cure for or vaccine against African swine fever.

“Ang pagkakaalam ko po, ang antibiotic ay ginagamit po sa bacteria. Hindi po sa virus. And we know for a fact that so many times, sinabi na po natin, wala hong bakuna o gamot pa sa ASF,” Agriculture Undersecretary Ariel Cayanan told reporters in an ambush interview.

Several online posts advertise probiotic supplements for hogs, which may be misinterpreted as vaccines or medicines against ASF.

Cayanan called on the public to report to the DA anyone trying to sell "vaccines" or "cures" for ASF. — BM, GMA News
