SLEX lane 3 to reopen November 30, says private operator

Traffic situation along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) is expected to improve before the Christmas month kicks in, as the third lane that has been temporarily closed will be reopened to motorists by the end of November, according to private operator Skyway O&M Corporation.

"On track naman po kami, 'yung pangako namin na 'yun pong isang lane na isinara namin temporarily dito sa Skyway upgrade ay isasauli natin by the 30th of November, itong katapusan ng Nobyembre, para bago mag-Christmas, bago mag-December ay three lanes na itong nasa ibaba natin," Skyway O&M president and CEO Engr. Manuel Bonoan said in an interview in Dobol B sa News TV on Monday.

"Yan po 'yung timetable na sinabi natin na magawa lahat ng paggagawan ng poste namin diyan sa ibaba ng Skyway," he added.

An ongoing Skyway extension project prompted the closure of one lane on the expressway and caused serious gridlocks for north-bound motorists. Project completion is expected on December 2020.

A Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) official recently suggested a P44 discount for Class 1 vehicles that use SLEX, considering the inconvenience caused by the heavy traffic.
