Duterte orders grant of P2,000 monthly allowance for CAFGU members

President Rodrigo Duterte has authorized the grant of monthly financial support to members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU).

Each CAFGU member is entitled to P2,000 monthly allowance beginning July 2019, according to Executive Order 94 released by Malacañang on Thursday.

The EO provides only duly-appointed members of the CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) units appearing on the roster maintained by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and actually rendering services are entitled to the cash support.

Duterte directed the Department of Budget and Management and Department of National Defense to issue the guidelines on the implementation of the EO, which took effect immediately.

Last year, Duterte granted each member of the CAA units financial support of P7,000 per month, covering the months of November and December 2018.

The President had cited the CAA units' support to the AFP such as providing vital military intelligence, joining "traditional and non-traditional military operations," securing conflict-affected communities and acting as first responders during natural disasters. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
