Only transparent bags allowed during SEA Games — official

Only transparent bags are allowed for the spectators who will watch sports activities in the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, an official from the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee said on Thursday.

“One important thing that we have implemented in this SEA Games is the clear bag policy. You can have your bag but you have to make sure that your bag that you will be bringing are cleared or transparent,” retired military chief Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr., functional area director for Games Security and  Safety, said.

“This is for spectators but the athletes they have all the leeway to bring along what bag they want,” Catapang added.

Catapang said those who would not use cleared bags will not be allowed to enter the sports venues. He added that spectators should leave it inside their vehicles.

The official also said some sports venues have baggage counters where they can leave their bags.

Catapang said authorities are expecting that sports venues would be full. He assured the public that security measures are already in place for the event.

“Good to go na kami,” Catapang said .

The opening ceremony for the 2019 SEA Games will be held on November 30 at the Philippine Arena.
