'Mistrust' in VP Leni nice way of saying she is fired —PACC's Luna

Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission commissioner Manuelito Luna on Sunday said Vice President Leni Robredo need not be told that she is no longer co-chair of the anti-drug body.

According to Luna, Duterte saying that he doesn’t trust Robredo is a nice way of saying she has been fired.

“A lawyer worth his salt would have interpreted the President's statement that he does not trust her as a courteous way of saying that she's ‘fired’,” said Luna.

“In the first place, the position that she accepted is legally nonexistent and that such non-cabinet rank position cannot be offered to or accepted by a vice-president as borne out by the Charter,” he added.

Robredo earlier said Duterte should directly tell her if he wants her out as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee On Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).

Robredo has asked for a list of the high value targets (HVT) in the campaign against drugs from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine National Police, but was initially denied.

Robredo said the list of HVT in drug war campaign was set to be presented to her finally during a meeting with PDEA chief Aaron Aquino last week, but she refused to see it.

“Pagpunta ko doon, in fairness kay PDEA chief Aaron Aquino, nakahanda na yung mga folder. May nakahandang presentation. Ipapakita na sa akin ang listahan, pero ako yung umayaw,” she said on a radio program on Sunday, noting that the meeting happened amid the debate whether she should see the HVT list.

A day before this, Robredo said she wrote a letter to the President to clarify her mandate as the chair of ICAD.

“Sumulat na ako sa Pangulo. Tinatanong ko kung anong extent ng mandato ko. Ayoko akusahan ako na parang sinasaklaw ko yung hindi ko naman assignment…wala pa po tayong (natanggap na) sagot,” she said —Joviland Rita/LBG, GMA News
