Over 250,000 infrastructures damaged due to Tisoy —NDRRMC


More than 250,000 infrastructures were reported damaged after the onslaught of Typhoon Tisoy (international name: Kammuri), based on the report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Sunday.

These 254,765 damaged structures were reported in Regions I, III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, VIII, CAR, and CARAGA, NDRRMC added.

At least 55,874 houses and one health facility were totally damaged, while 710 schools and 20 health facilities were partially damaged.

Of the 117 roads and bridges affected by Tisoy, 22 were still not passable.

At least 196 areas experienced flooding.

Tisoy resulted to over P2 billion cost of damage to crops, fisheries, livestock, and agricultural infrastructure in Regions III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, and VI.

According to NDRRMC, 12 dead and 54 injured persons were reported.

Over one million people were affected by the typhoon and 90,582 of them sought shelter in 592 evacuation centers while 15,659 were being served outside evacuation centers.

At least 301 areas encountered power interruption as 17 transmission lines in Luzon and Visayas were affected by the typhoon.

According to NDRRMC, 358 domestic flights and 2013 international flights were canceled due to the weather disturbance, but all of them have already resumed as of December 4. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
