Senate adopts resolution honoring hero cop Magno
The Senate on Monday adopted a resolution honoring the selfless act of the late Police Senior Master Sergeant Jason Magno, who used his own body to shield others from a grenade blast in Initao, Misamis Oriental last week.
Senate Resolution 229, introduced by Senators Panfilo Lacson, Juan Edgardo Angara, and Christopher "Bong" Go, commended and exalted Magno's exemplary service and extraordinary heroism.
An explosive ordnance disposal specialist of the Philippine National Police, Magno graduated from Bukidnon State College and entered the police force in 2000. During his time in the force he received several awards, including the Medalya ng Kagalingan, Medalya ng Kasanayan, Medalya ng Papuri, Medalya ng Paglilingkod sa Mindanao, and Madalya ng Paglaban sa Manliligalig.
“Magno acted with conspicuous deed of personal bravery and self-sacrifice and beyond the call of duty in offering his own life to save the lives of others,” the resolution stated.
“This selfless act of Magno should be emulated and recognized not only by the Philippine National Police but by the entire country,” it added. — BM, GMA News
