OPAPP condemns NPA attack in Samar
Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. on Monday decried the “deplorable” attack of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Eastern Samar that claimed two lives and wounded 15 others.
Rebels suspected to be members of the NPA lobbed an improvised explosive device in Borongan City last Friday.
Galvez noted that the attack followed the Duterte administration’s recent announcement that peace talks with rebel leaders are likely to resume.
“As the government tries to address the roots of the insurgency, the rebels continue to mount attacks. This is deplorable,” Galvez said in a statement.
“Those who committed this crime will not escape the long arm of the law. They will have to pay for the atrocities they committed,” he added.
The Palace has also condemned the attacks, saying that it puts the insurgents’ sincerity about pursuing peace talks in question. —Julia Mari Ornedo/LDF, GMA News
