On CPP's 51st anniversary, PNP blasts 'Joma, Joma terorista' jingle

A police vehicle blasting a jingle calling Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founding chairman Jose Maria Sison "terorista" (terrorist) became the centerpiece of police indignation rally on Thursday.

The rally coincided with the CPP's 51st anniversary.

The rally was held even amid the declaration of a holiday truce between the national government and the CPP.

The CPP made its announcement first, saying that it will order the New People's Army to hold off for the period from 12 a.m. on December 23, 2019 to 11:59 p.m. on January 7, 2020. It said that the order would take effect upon a reciprocal ceasefire order from the government.

Malacañang followed shortly with its own announcement, saying that President Rodrigo Duterte "has directed the declaration of a unilateral and reciprocal ceasefire" for the same period. —KBK, GMA News
