Voter registration resumes on Jan. 20 to last until next year — Comelec


Voter registration will resume on January 20, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Friday.

"Applications for registration, transfer of registration records, change/correction of entries in the registration record, reactivation of registration record, and reinstatement of name in the list of voters will be accepted," the statement read.

Comelec said the registration period will run until September 30, 2021, except on the following holidays:

  • April 9, 2020 - Maundy Thursday
  • April 10, 2020 - Good Friday
  • December 25, 2020 - Christmas Day
  • April 1, 2021 - Maundy Thursday
  • April 2, 2021 - Good Friday

Applicants must at least be 18 years of age on or before May 9, 2020. They must be a resident of the Philippines for at least one year and must have lived for six months in the place where they will register.

Qualified applicants may register at the Office of the Election Officer from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, Comelec said registered voters as of May 13, 2019, do not need to re-register.

According to the statement, registration will not take place in the province of Palawan on May 11, 2020, due to the conduct of the plebiscite in its 23 municipalities. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
