Korea donates $200K to Philippine Red Cross for Taal Volcano eruption relief ops

The South Korean government has donated $200,000 (about P10 million) to humanitarian organization Red Cross Philippines to aid the thousands of victims displaced by the recent Taal Volcano eruptions.

"The assistance is expected to contribute to the stabilization of the lives of the displaced people by providing relief supplies in a speedy manner to people staying at shelters due to the volcanic eruption," wrote the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on Thursday.

Alert Level 4 remains in Taal Volcano, with a possible hazardous eruption within hours to days, according to the PHIVOLCS.

The provinces of Cavite and Batangas, which were most affected by the ashfall, have been placed under "state of calamity." — Angelica Y. Yang/MDM, GMA News
