Inside job eyed in P6.1-M robbery in UST
Manila police investigators are exploring the possibility that the P6.2-million robbery in the University of Santo Tomas (UST) campus in Manila City last Monday was the result of an inside job. Investigators said the robbers likely knew the routine in the Security Bank branch inside the UST campus, and were aware of a "huge collection" that would take place that day. However, they admitted that they still face a blank wall in trying to identify and go after the men who pulled off the robbery. Khristine Ajero, branch teller of Security Bank UST branch, had just collected some P4.5 million cash and P1.7 million worth of checks at the billing section of the UST Hospital for deposit at the bank's branch. While she and security escort Roger Anguilan were walking on the way to the bank, two armed men blocked their path and declared a holdup at gunpoint. One man grabbed two green duffel bags containing the money and checks. The two armed men then rode in tandem on separate motorcycles and sped off towards the Dapitan Street exit gate. Ajero and Anguilan told the police they failed to get the license plates of the two motorcycles because they were still stunned over what happened. In a related development, the dzBB report said the MPD is eyeing a ban on the sale of toy replica guns, which are gaining popularity as a Christmas gift. The replicas are sold even in sidewalks. Replica guns that look and "feel" the same as the real thing can fetch up to P7,000. - GMANews.TV
