Gamboa chopper got entangled in wire due to poor visibility caused by thick dust — official
The chopper carrying Philippine National Police chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa and seven others got entangled with a high-tension wire due to poor visibility, a police official said Thursday.
Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, Laguna Police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Serafin Petalio said the poor visibility was caused by thick dust.
“Pag take-off doon siya sa maalikabok eh. Siyempre lumabo, sumabit sa wire,” Petalio said.
On the other hand, Police Captain Edgar Miguel of the PNP-Highway Patrol Group, said the ill-fated chopper caught fire later on. “Nakita ko umaapoy na 'yung chopper.”
The chopper was torn in half as a result of the crash.
The chopper crashed shortly after its lift off past 8 a.m. in San Pedro, Laguna.
Officials said Gamboa is in stable condition. — RSJ, GMA News
