Passage of bill mandating underground cables urged following PNP chopper crash

A party-list representative on Thursday renewed her call for the immediate approval of the measure mandating the underground installation of wire and cable systems in the country.

Bagong Henerasyon party-list Representative Bernadette Herrera-Dy made the call in the wake of the accident involving a Philippine National Police (PNP) helicopter after reportedly hitting a high-tension wire.

"It is really high time for the country to relocate and place all cables underground. This incident has proven how unreasonably risky overhead wires are," Herrera-Dy said in a statement.

"I'm glad that our PNP chief and other officials are safe but we could not let this incident happen again. It is necessary for us to exhaust all means to ensure safety in all public spaces," she added. —NB, GMA News
