PNP Generals Magaway, Ramos still ‘unstable,’ acting spox Durana says
The two police generals who were seriously injured in the chopper crash in San Pedro, Laguna are still in "unstable" condition, according to Philippine National Police (PNP) acting spokesman Police Major General Benigno Durana.
At a press conference in Taguig City on Thursday afternoon, Durana provided updates regarding the unfortunate incident and the condition of those who were hurt, including PNP chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa, PNP Director for Intelligence Police Major General Mariel Magaway and Director for Comptrollership Police Major General Jose Maria Ramos.
"Unstable pa rin po ang kanilang (Magaway and Ramos) kondisyon ngayon... At this point we are not at the liberty to give you the extent and nature of their injuries other than saying that they are still in unstable condition," Durana said.
"The next 48 hours will be critical in their recovery..." he added.
Asked if they are still unconscious, Durana said Magaway was responsive.
"I was told na nagrerespond sa pagkurot si General Magaway... Kaya nga sana tuloy-tuloy na po ito... Alam niyo, we storm heaven with our prayers dahil napakabait at magaling na opisyal po ito," Durana said.
According to Durana, Gamboa was updated with the condition of Magaway and Ramos, noting that the former even wants to visit the two police generals.
"In fact, 'yun ang number one concern ni chief PNP... gusto na nga niyang pumunta sa dalawa niyang tauhan para matingnan personally ang kanilang kalagayan," Durana said.
"He is in high spirits but ang concern niya po ay total recovery ng seven niya
pong mga kasamahan," Durana added.
Durana also appealed to the public to pray for the recovery of Magaway and Ramos.
Meanwhile, Durana said while the two police generals are recovering, Gamboa designated Police Brigadier General Ronnie Olay as the officer-in-charge for Comptrollership and Police Brigadier General Jess Cambay as officer-in-charge for Intelligence. —LDF, GMA News
