Villanueva thanks visitors to mom’s wake, urges public to prioritize their health

Senator Joel Villanueva reminded the public to prioritize their safety amid the coronavirus situation in the Philippines as he thanked those who paid their respects at his mother's wake.

"Our grieving family is overcome with emotion from the outpouring of support in this difficult time," Villanueva said in a statement. "We deeply appreciate your presence in the wake of Sis. Dory, but given our current public health concerns, please prioritize your personal health and safety."

Sister Dory Villanueva, wife of evangelist Brother Eddie Villanueva and mother of the senator, died at the age of 73 on March 10.

The cause of death was arrhythmia secondary to septic shock, according to the information disclosed by Jesus is Lord Church Worldwide.
