DOH mobilizing transport services for health workers amid enhanced community quarantine in Luzon
Special transport facilities for health workers are being mobilized by the Department of Health (DOH) amid the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon, according to an official on Tuesday.
"Pagdating sa sasakyan, nakausap na po natin ang Department of Transportation at saka ang MMDA at saka ang ibang private groups na willing na willing na tayo'y tulungan," Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in an interview on GMA News TV's Balitanghali.
Bus companies handling point to point services are also being contacted, she added.
"Ito pong lahat ng transportation na ito ay para lang sa ating health care workers," Vergeire said.
Medical and non-medical hospital workers, as well as those in the vital services sector, are exempted from the travel restrictions under the community quarantine but getting to work remains a challenge as public transport facilities have been suspended.
Government authorities have yet to lay out specific guidelines on the proposed special rides for health workers. — RSJ, GMA News
