Justice Bernabe: No official announcement yet on release date of 2019 Bar exam results
The chair of the 2019 Bar examinations has denied that the Supreme Court has officially announced the date of the release of last year's tests.
"Contrary to what has been recently reported in a newspaper, the Court has not yet made any official announcement regarding the date of release of the 2019 Bar results," Senior Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe said Thursday.
"The public is requested to await official announcements from the Court. Rest assured, the results will be released at the most appropriate time," the Bar chair said in a statement.
Citing sources, the Manila Times reported Thursday that the Bar exam results will be released on April 15.
More than 8,000 aspiring lawyers were expected to have taken the Bar exams last year.
In 2018, 8,155 candidates completed the tests, which were scheduled across the four Sundays of November. Of this number, 1,800 passed. Sean James Borja of the Ateneo de Manila University was the topnotcher with a rating of 89.3060%.
The Bar exams cover the subjects of political law, international law, labor law and social legislation, civil law, taxation law, mercantile law, criminal law, remedial law, and legal and judicial ethics and practical exercises.
Associate Justice Marvic Leonen is the chair of the 2020 Bar exams. Like in 2019, there will be two examiners for each of the subjects this year. -MDM, GMA News
