Gov’t buildings in New Clark City converted into COVID-19 hospital — Nograles

Government buildings at the New Clark City in Tarlac have been refurbished to serve as health facilities for COVID-19 patients, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said Monday.

Nograles said in a virtual press conference that the temporary hospital can accommodate 1,000 patients.

Apart from this, the Philippine International Convention Center and World Trade Center in Pasay and the Ninoy Aquino Stadium at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila will be ready by this week as facilities for the treatment and health monitoring of COVID-19 cases, according to COVID-19 response chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.

“Secretary Galvez also reports that many LGUs [local government units] have also stepped up efforts to provide quarantine areas in their respective localities, and we will report on the same in the days ahead,” Nograles said.

The Philippines has so far reported 3,246 COVID-19 cases with 152 deaths and 64 recoveries. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
