275 repatriates from London arrive in Philippines —DFA

A total of 275 Filipino crew members of two cruise ships in London have been repatriated back to the country, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced Friday.

In a Facebook post, the DFA said that the overseas Filipino workers, composed of 128 from MV Oceana and 147 from MV Aurora, arrived in the country at noon.

According to the DFA, local manning agency Magsaysay Maritime Corporation arranged the repatriation in coordination with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Philippine Embassy in London.

The repatriates went under the required medical protocols and will undergo home quarantine amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threat as approved by the Department of Health-Bureau of Quarantine.

Latest data from the DFA showed that a total of 607 Filipinos abroad have tested positive for COVID-19 with 72 fatalities and 171 recoveries. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
