Honest SAP beneficiaries return money after receiving assistance from other program

Four beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) returned the money they received after getting cash assistance from another program.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development rolled out the funds to help low-income families amid the enhanced community quarantine.

Despite the need to survive amid the health crisis, four individuals continued to live with an honest heart and return the money given to them.

In Mariz Umali's report on "24 Oras," Norberto Bondoy said that he already received assistance from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program so he returned the P6,500 pesos cash assistance given to him by SAP.

Whendy Pido, a beneficiary from Magbet, Cotabato, also gave back the cash assistance since her husband received his.

"Mahirap din po kasi 'yung doble matatangagp mo tas 'yung iba ni piso wala," Pido said. "Ako masarap kain ko habang 'yung iba kumakalam 'yung tiya walang kinakain."

Alvin Geniliaro from Sultan Kudarat also gave back SAP's cash assistance of P5,000 because his wife already received her share.

Gerard Burnaza, also from Sultan Kudarat, decided to give his SAP cash assistance of P5,000 to other people as a way to help out. —Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
