Cable association throws support for ABS-CBN
The Philippine Cable and Telecommunications Association Inc. (PCTA) on Wednesday threw its support for ABS-CBN after the network went off air due to a cease and desist order issued by the government.
"The network has long been a valuable partner in the Cable TV industry in bringing together the Filipino people for news, education and entertainment," the PCTA said in a statement.
"We find it most unfortunate that the cease and desist order has come out during the greatest health crisis our nation has known and when information dissemination is most important," it added.
The broadcast giant on Tuesday night went off air in compliance with the order of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to cease its operations after its legislative franchise expired.
The NTC earlier said it will give the network a provisional license to allow its continued operations, but backtracked on its word. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
