PNP reminds personnel to observe cyber etiquette
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday reminded all its uniformed and non-uniformed personnel to observe proper etiquette when using social media platforms.
"In accordance to PNP policy on social networking sites, all personnel must observe proper decorum in all public engagements including social media platforms, chat groups and private sites," PNP spokesman Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac said in a statement.
Banac said PNP chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa is calling all personnel to utilize social media as a tool "to establish a pro-active information and awareness activities as well as build a harmonious relationship with the community in this time of pandemic."
Asked if there were violations committed by PNP personnel following the issuance of the reminder, Banac said: "So far wala naman naobserve na nagviolate. Pero maigi na 'yung nagpapaalala lagi."
According to Banac, all comments and opinions of individual personnel, associations and sectoral groups on matters that are not related to the police organization's activities are hereby disowned by the PNP as unofficial and unauthorized.
Last week, the Armed Forces of the Philippines also reminded its military and civilian personnel to observe proper behavior when using social media. -NB, GMA News
