Senate honors late Mayor Joni of Bocaue, Bulacan

Members of the Senate on Monday honored late Bocaue, Bulacan Mayor Joni Villanueva who passed away last week.

Senate Resolution No. 433, expressing the profound sympathy and sincere condolences of the chamber was adopted. Mayor Joni was remembered by the lawmakers as a young and promising public servant who lived her life to the fullest.

"Devastated is an understatement... but as my mom would always say, 'The clay can never question the Potter,'" Senator Joel Villanueva, brother of the deceased mayor, emotionally said.

The senators comforted their bereaved colleague and offered prayers for their family as their matriarch Dory Villanueva also passed away in March.

Mayor Joni died at the age of 42 on Thursday after succumbing to sepsis secondary to bacterial pneumonia.
