DFA, GSIS, SSS enforce social distancing measures as operations resume

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), and Social Security System (SSS) all enforced social distancing measures at their offices as operations resumed under the loosened quarantine restrictions.

According to Emil Sumangil’s report on “24 Oras” on Wednesday, the DFA has resumed processing applications and renewals for passports.

The department made use of visual cues and plastic barriers to ensure that applicants will observe physical distancing.

At the GSIS office, a handwashing area and foot bath was placed at the entrance while thermal scanners and plastic barriers were used inside.

“We implement the ‘no face mask, no entry’ policy, we implement the social distancing, and if you will notice, we also implement the wash your hands before entering the office and the thermal scanning of every member and pensioner,” Senior Vice President Eduardo Fernandez said.

“We are still in a strong position in providing benefits, providing support. Well-prepared na ang GSIS for our members and pensioners availing of loans, especially the emergency loan,” he added.

At the SSS office in Diliman, Quezon City, social distancing was enforced among those seated.

However, authorities had to remind those who were standing to distance themselves from one another despite the long line. —LDF, GMA News
