Over 4,200 crimes vs. women, children reported during community quarantine —Duterte

More than 4,200 cases of violence against women and children have been recorded by the Philippine National Police (PNP) since the implementation of community quarantine last March to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

As of June 11, the PNP had tallied of 2,183 reports of violations against women and 2,077 against children, President Rodrigo Duterte said in his weekly report to Congress on Monday.

Previously, the PNP recorded a total of 3,699 cases of violence against women and children for the period ending June 4.

Duterte said the Philippine Commission on Women has been continuously monitoring and assisting women who are victims of abuse and violence.

Malacañang said last week that it was saddened by the incidents of violence against women and children during the implementation of community quarantine. — BM, GMA News
